NHS Learning Hub

Working as a contractor for NHS: Health Education England, I was part of an existing project, the NHS Learning Hub. A resource that allows caregivers from all over the UK share resources and training for others in their industry.

My part in the is system was mostly back-end and database work and ensuring that all 'mechanics' worked behind the scences of the application. The NHS hub database was one of the most complex and largest that I ever worked on.

A few months after my part in this work was complete the global pandemic hit and the UK was in lockdown and the public became more dependant on the NHS than ever before. This hub allowed care givers to contine their learning and share information with no face-to-face contact and became a crutial tool in their national success.

The Challenges

01

Working from Home

Working with the NHS was the first time I'd worked from home on a full-time basis, some I now do full-time as a preference. This meant opening up a whole new world of personal time and work management.

02

Data Integrity

As we were working in the healthcare industry, data integrity was absolutelty crutial to the success of the platform. All the little details in the way things worked globally was of the highest importance.

03

Working with Metal Illness

At the time I contracted with NHS I don't mind admitting that it was at a time in my life when I was struggling with mental illness. Learning how to balance life and work was difficult but important. Learning to be proud of what I was doing and throw myself into my career was one of the things that got me through a troubling period.
